I got a job and now?!

I searched for more than 2 years for my first opportunity to work in the subject that I studied in University.
In these 2 years I made a postgraduate, made volunteer work, worked as an au pair in Germany, worked in a Restaurant, worked as babysitter, made a Plan B translating business, made a internship. More than half of this time I was living in a foreign country, learning a language and being completely independent of my family support.
Although I had all this jobs and par-time jobs, sometimes working 7 days in a row, my main and true job was searching for my big chance to make career in my field of study. Every time that I had free it had to be used to send applications. Every time I would go out I would try to make networking, get to know more companies and try to sniff around opportunities. Has you can guess not much free time…
Now I got a new job, a god job, a very good job! And I don’t know what to do with my life now!
It can be hard to understand, it can be seen as ingratitude… but for me, after I signed the contract was very confusing. Something that I tried to achieve for so long time, what I wanted (even more that what I wanted), wasn’t giving me the happiness that I always imagined I would feel.
I got a job and now? What comes next?
When you have 2 or 3 jobs to be able to pay your all bills in the end of the month and apply to jobs opportunity like maniac you don’t have time to lay down on the sofa, watch TV, go to the movies and you are poor! so you can’t do nothing basically because you don’t have money. A very simple life! And the biggest joy that you can get out of all of this is that you also don’t have time to think in your life, you don’t have time to miss your family, your dogs, your best friends, your city, your culture.
I stop feeling in this period of time. When I signed this contract all I could think was that now I would have a lot of free time! What to do with it!
So I made what I do always… a list of goals…. things that I really want to do or achieve and that would be my plan to bit the fear to be alone.
Here is the things I thought that would make me go back to the normal world:
deco

- Make things look beautiful around me

During a lot of time I just get used to do the quick way, not perfect but is good enough! I think that now I will have time to notice the things that are around me so a great way to avoid getting down is making my surroundings beautiful!
I’m making an effort and looking for decoration magazines, organization ideas to be able to build in the end some nice living space of my 20 qm room in Stuttgart (that I actually think is a dump).

- Cooking
I want to get my cooking skills better! I know how to cook but I want to learn more technics, discover more receipts, build up a new interest in me! Learn how to make cookies, learn how to make fresh piza or pasta is on my list of thing to learn how to do properly! Also, I have a great curiosity to learn how are done some of the traditional portuguese dishes I know and ate all my life.
- RUNNING!!!
I love running! Running is healthy and is good hobby to consume time! You get to know the city, go out, and get fit at the same time!
I want to be able to run a half marathon by the end of this year! I want to do it with 26 years of age.

- BIKE!!!
In Portugal I never ride a bike, I learned it when I was in Germany! Here, where I live, exist many beautiful bicycles ways to explore and have a good time!
- Write and paint more
Was always my dream job to be a writer and an illustrator! If I have talent? No idea! But when you sit down and imagine what you would like to do in a very romantic vision, I see my self illustrating kids book.
Learn_music
- Play an instrument
This topic is only here because in my new room I have a piano! I studied for 7 years piano when I was a kid so why not remember it! Is nice and relaxing!
- Learn more German
The last 6 months I didn’t focus much in learning the german language. Now is mandatory that I do it! Going back to VHS and try to make the B1 test is one of the next things I want to achieve!
hikinig
- Hiking
Because there is nothing else I love more doing than hiking! A person can travel immensely with this hobby and like I already experience, a great way to meet great people!
- Making new friends and taking care of old friends
Now is the time for me to extend my list of friends and try to get more in touch with my old friends. Planning outside activities, dinners, or just meetings for no special reason is going to be a priority.
plants
- Plants
I love plants and gardens. When I was in Portugal in my parents’ house I had this big suculent plants collection that I planted by myself. I had allready a very big collection when I most give them away. Since I’m here because I don’t know where would be my next step I never try to have plants. But now is a good time to get again in this hobby! Now is just deciding what I want to collect next :)
